Who are you backing for the Race for Life?
It is with great excitement that we announce the Essential runners for the 2010 Race for Life.Â
Our six high quality fillies will run as a team but there will be some serious internal competition. If you are able to give a little, we would truly welcome your support. All of the ‘sponsor now’ buttons below go to our team page but use the button of your chosen filly to place your ‘wager’ and we may handicap the favourite!
To help you choose, here is our form guide:

Sam Rudland, Managing Director:
A fiercely determined filly that has proven herself up for the challenge time and again. Although one of the smaller competitors in the field, this pocket battleship with a glint of steel could be one to watch. Actually – her sister wants to watch because she’s never actually seen Sam run! Sponsor now.
Natalie Bruins, Senior Account Manager:
Raised in the sunshine of the Cape (and with a fondness for the ‘grape of the cape’) this filly has been stabled in the UK for some years and has adapted well to the new climate. With a flowing mane and a sense of mischief the other competitors should beware of. May be running in blinkers to prevent distraction by good looking men on the rails. Sponsor now.
Sandra Cale, Financial Controller:
A classy entry and a quietly determined runner who will have calculated exactly what is required for this challenge. If the numbers add up and she’s happy in the zone, this filly could cause an upset. Sponsor now.
Hannah Curtis, Account Manager:
A consistently strong performer from the Essential stable who has proved the driving force behind this campaign. Carries strong hopes into the race although her training has been interrupted by a recent change in home stable. Don’t let the easy nature fool you – a competitor’s heart beats beneath the sleek coat!. Sponsor now.
Magda Skorek, Marketing Executive:
Our Eastern European raider. Another quiet, unassuming runner who always looks good in the paddock and puts in the hard yards in training. Expected to do well providing she can find the right animal print racing colours. Sponsor now.
Charlotte Olney, Digital Marketing Executive:
Quirky with boundless energy and a joie de vivre that are the hallmarks of this runner. She thrives under pressure to deliver consistent results time after time. Easy to spot in the pack with her red mane and carries the hopes of many. Sponsor now.

Essential Campaign Wins Avnet MAC Award |

Essential's 'Is it rugged' campaign won the Social Media Category at the Avnet Global MAC Awards. Created in conjunction with Avnet's Wireless & Mobility Team and Motorola, the campaign featured Bjorn who tested the ruggedness of the Motorola MC70 in a number of humerous videos. These ranged from using it as an ice hockey puck with the Basingstoke Bison (who showed it no mercy on the ice rink and said it would never survive) to shooting it with a shotgun. It survived everything, including the shotgun blast which broke the screen and peppered the casing but didn't stop it from scanning. We even sent it back to the Motorola Service Centre and they backed up the data, replaced the screen, reloaded the data and sent it back to us and it's now sat in the office and continues to work to this day.
The campaign included a series of videos featuring Bjorn. As a social kind of guy, Bjorn had a profile on a range of social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube in addition to his blog. The videos quickly got legs and spread virally within the rugged mobile computing industry and have now had over 41,000 views across a host of different video channels. The videos and social media coverage dominates the first page of Google for anyone searching for keywords related to testing the MC70.
As well as being a hugely successful campaign it was also great fun to create. Our digital and creative team came up with a huge number of potential tests for the device and got hugely excited every time they had another video to make, especially if it involved a trip to the fancy dress shop for costumes! Essential Celebrates One Year in New Offices |
Saturday, 23 January 2010 17:49 |
It is just over one year since Essential moved into its new offices in the heart of Newbury and during this period the business has continued to grow, despite the economic pressures.
The move was triggered due to the space contstraints of the old offices which were unable to accommodate any more staff without further development. Additionally the business had a desire to have a number of meeting rooms, including a boardroom capable of comfortably seating a large number of clients.
Now affectionately renamed Essential Towers by the staff, the offices currently house a team of 17 staff and have room for further expansion. They are also regularly visited by clients who often say they prefer meeting at Essential due to the nice environment and the great coffee! Tags: essential communications | new office | newbury |
